About MLP in GTX

Several of us informally got some MLP-style matches going locally (GTX).

We are initially trying to keep levels at UPPER intermediate (3.5+) to ADVANCED (4.0+)

If this grows, we will start including other levels.

Don't want to overcomplicate things (at least not for first several events).

Play will be at whatever venue we all decide on, e.g. GTC, McMasters, or Tejas (coming Sep/Oct 2025)

One of the key aspects we're going for here is the MLP TEAM-based, TEAM-spirit 🙌 📣 🎉 style of play, where:

  • you have part of your team playing (mixed, gender, dream breaker)
  • part of your team is on the sidelines, CHEERING 👏 you on!
  • we have some team spirit items (IG post of Aug 26, 2025 items) to help us make this even more fun 🤩!!

MLP in GTX: Bringing Team Spirit to Georgetown Pickleball

Georgetown, Texas got a taste of Major League Pickleball excitement on August 26, 2025, as local players gathered for the inaugural MLP in GTX event. This wasn't your typical pickup game – it was all about team spirit, sideline cheering, and the electric atmosphere that makes MLP-style play so engaging.

The Battle: Kitchen Crew vs. Pickle Slicers

The event brought the unique MLP-style format to Georgetown (GTX), featuring an intense showdown between two teams: the Kitchen Crew and the Pickle Slicers. Players weren't just competing individually – they were part of teams, complete with sideline support and genuine camaraderie.

After a hard-fought battle across multiple game formats, the Kitchen Crew emerged victorious with a final score of 4 games to 3 over the Pickle Slicers in a thrilling finish that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

Team Spirit in Action

What made this event special? The atmosphere. While part of each team was on the court battling it out in mixed doubles, gender doubles, and dream breaker formats, the rest of the team was on the sidelines doing what MLP teams do best – cheering their teammates on! 👏
